Just made it to Dresden, Germany. It should be a good experience watching the European championships and training with the German junior team for a week and and bit. Just Skated on the ice and it's really fast, too bad I am not competing on it.😅 ... See more

The Physics of Speedskating: (If you were wondering why our sport is so hard)

A short track speed skater at the apex of the turn leans up to 68° pushing the equivalent of 2.7 Gs of force into the ice.

For a 175lb athlete this is equivalent to doing a nearly 500lb one legged squat with while traveling at 30 mph directly at a wall all leaning over at 68 degrees while balancing on a 1mm wide 17.5 inch piece of steel, on ICE.

Comparisons:
- A Ferrari can only corner up to 1G of acceleration, a speed skater can pull 2 1/2 times that on ice
- An astronaut in a shuttle launch feels 3Gs, so this is similar
- A short track speedskater accelerates from 0-60mph equivalent in 2 seconds in the corner ... See more

Competed in the Latvian champs today, I think i did pretty well, came 2nd in junior B and did a 44.3 for my 500m and came 4th so I'm pretty happy

Ethan made the A final of the 1500m. There is a bit of learning to be done but overall a pretty good race. Ps: Mikayla won her A final of the 1500m

2nd sesssion in latvia, was hard, we did 10 laps 10 times 10.8-10.9 and 2 minutes rest between then after ice we did cycling in the gym, 1 minute fast, 2 minutes rest, 8 times
